POSITION: Social Media Manager

LOCATION: Abuja

ABOUT THE JOB:
YouthHubAfrica is one of Africa’s leading NGOs, providing platforms for young people to contribute to sustainable development and collaborate in creative and special ways. In the last year of its 5 year strategic plan, the organisation will enlist the contribution of young, innovative and motivated leaders to support the existing team in achieving its objectives and that of its partners and funders in the area of ensuring Youth participation and accountability in governance.

GENERAL FUNCTIONS
The Social Media Manager’s primary function is to oversee the implementation of social media campaigns and managing existing social media platforms. This will include helping to shape the organisation's perception on social media as well as communicate the organisation’s work by highlighting wins and milestones while sharing highlights for YouthHubAfrica’s growing online audience.
The ideal candidate will provide leadership across the full range of campaign activities, planning, implementation and documentation. He/She will Identify and resolve diverse issues as they arise, which often requires interpretation of existing procedures and processes and independently determining the appropriate action.

Main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Content Creation
    • Proactively create editorial content (stories, photos, advocacy images, contests, campaigns, audio, video, infographics, etc.) in cooperation with the Communication Team and adapt for media pitching, web and social media, posting daily to respective channels.
    • Stories, social media posts, videos, images, infographics, photos posted to digital channels
    • Expand YHA's current social media channels to new and emerging social media platforms including maximising outreach on Linkedin, exploring opportunities on TikTok as well as any other relevant social media channels
  • Social Media Management
    • Continuously update and implement YHA Social media policy to ensure increase in engagement and followers by at least 50% at the end of 2021
    • Maintain a web and social media calendar and content plans of content themes and all upcoming coverage schedules according to the calendar.
    • Monthly web and social media calendar created and adhered to.
    • Prepare social media packs for flagship events, initiatives, campaigns.
    • Social media packs prepared for all key events, dates, launches, etc and shared with stakeholders, where appropriate.
    • Actively engage with online audiences through timely responses to messages and comments, social media channels. monthly reports on levels of engagement.
  • Reports
    • Work Timely updates and monthly reports on improvements and content plans
    • Generate and present to management a monthly performance report on ALL social media channels using relevant softwares as appropriate
  • Coordination
    • Coordinate/Manage existing media platforms created to promote organisation images, objectives and mission
    • Contribute to the positive image and overall credibility of the organization, notably through the application of the organization’s Code of Conduct
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Degree in journalism, marketing, social science, communication or a related field or other relevant field of study (a Master degree will be an added advantage)
  • Three years’ experience in program design and implementation, in a similar role, will be an added advantage
  • Proven knowledge and experience in developing and implementing media campaigns
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, to remain flexible to a changing environment, and to make decisions independently
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Demonstrate willingness to work in a team.
  • Previous experience managing social media campaigns or channels for a non profit will be an added advantage.

FUNCTIONAL SKILL SET:
  • Hands on experience in content management
  • Excellent copywriting skills
  • Ability to deliver creative content (text, image and video)
  • Solid knowledge of SEO, keyword research and Google Analytics
  • Ability to prioritize within a multi-tasking environment
  • Knowledge of online marketing channels
  • Familiarity with design using Canva
  • Photography skills

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Analytical and multitasking skills
